When your AED unit arrives, make sure that all of the parts are included and that nothing has been damaged in transit.  You will need to locate and complete the manufacturer's warranty card, the serial number that you will find on the AED will need to be entered on the card.  It may be possible to complete this process online, but it is important to check before you throw the card away.

You should also find instructions on how to set-up and use the AED, these are also often available online,  it is important to read the instructions fully before handling the unit and if you are unsure of anything it is best to contact the supplier.

Pads should be checked for expiry dates and these should be monitored and checked on a regular basis.  Expiry dates are set for the date of manufacture.
